Storage Tanks
Bendel's single-wall horizontal and vertical tanks are designed per UL142 for the storage of flammable and combustible liquids. The fabrication utilizes a single thickness of steel that is rolled and fit using a lap or joggle joint technique. After fitting, all seams of the tank are continuously welded on the outside. After the openings are installed, the tank is visually and pneumatically tested. When certified tight with no leaks, the openings are plugged and the tank is power tool cleaned and coated with a high gloss alkyd primer. We stock 150-gallon thru 2,000-gallon horizontal tanks in a variety of styles for immediate delivery.

Bendel's double-wall horizontal, vertical and rectangular tanks are also designed and built per UL142 for the storage of flammable and combustible liquids. The primary tank utilizes the fabrication technique stated above, but after the successful testing of the primary tank an additional set of shells and heads is added in direct contact with the primary tank exterior. The secondary skin employs the same lap joint technique. All seams are then continuously welded on the outside. A secondary emergency vent and inspection opening are added and then the secondary tank is visually and pneumatically tested. When certified tight with no leaks, the openings are plugged and the tank is power tool cleaned and coated with a high gloss alkyd primer. We stock 270-gallon thru 2,000-gallon horizontal saddle tanks for immediate delivery.

Whether tanks are constructed as single or double wall, Bendel employs the same high quality manufacturing methods. If however a high performance internal coating is required or the product stored subjects the tank to crevice corrosion, the primary tank may be fabricated using a butt weld joint configuration. With this method of construction all seams and openings are welded inside and out. This improves the quality of the coating surface and helps eliminate chemical attack. If Bendel is made aware of the conditions of service, we may be able to recommend other improvements to the tank, which will improve its service life.
