Company History Bendel began manufacturing carbon steel tanks in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1963 under the name of Atlas Steel Products Company. The name was changed to Bendel Corporation in 1977, when the present owners assumed control of the company. In 1983, a large modern new facility was built for the purpose of manufacturing custom stainless steel tanks. This move was highly successful and in 1987, the manufacturing facility was expanded and additional office space was added. Again in 1995, Bendel built an additional manufacturing bay to the existing plant so it could segregate the manufacture of custom carbon steel and stainless steel tanks. The engineering and office facilities were also increased. Over the years, Bendel has continued to modernize its facilities, both with buildings, machinery, equipment, and competent employees. At the present time, Bendel has over 60,000 square feet of manufacturing area on 12 acres of property located within 1 mile of I-85 and I-77. Bendel specializes in the fabrication of carbon steel, stainless steel and nickel alloy vessels to UL, API or ASME specifications.
